Teen Programs
Summer Reading Program
Visit the library to unearth some great reading this summer! The national theme “Unearth a Story” inspires a prehistoric and archealogical vibe full of every ancient, cool thing found underground: dinosaur bones, fossils, rocks, gems, and every other geological wonder under the ground!
This year an online summer reading tracking system makes its debut: BEANSTACK! For the first time, teens will be able to track their reading minutes and earn digital badges. Badges lead to prizes and virtual tickets in drawings for more prizes, to be collected at the library.
Starting June 1, you may go to Beanstack—through the link above, via QR codes posted at the library, or by simply searching for Beanstack online and searching for McBride Memorial Library—and register for summer reading. Immediately you will be able to begin logging reading time and reading activities to earn badges and read your way through levels named after expert professions that work with the earth and with the past. Will one spark your interest: Archaeologist? Geochemist? Paleoclimatologist?
The teen program is available for kids ages 12–18.
We can’t wait to see you at the library this summer!
The program runs June 1–August 8.
Attention teens in need of volunteer hours:
Do you enjoy working with kids? Can you set up tents and carry books? While you may wish to attend any of the programs below, you can also show up to VOLUNTEER at any of these programs. Bring a completed application found HERE with a parent/guardian’s signature. You may also fill out the simple volunteer application on the spot if a parent accompanies you and gives permission in person. And then … just be willing to offer a hand!
